Texas Rangers humiliate Minnesota Twins 9-3 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers tied the four game series after comprehensively beating Minnesota Twins 9-3 at Target Field, Minneapolis on Friday, June 10.
The packed crowd eagerly saw Michael Young having three hits and as many RBIs, with a couple of hits by Adrian Beltre who drove in two runs.
"I don't waste time thinking about my previous at-bats," Young said. "I know over the course of a long season if I keep grinding out my at-bats I'm going to be productive. I don't buy what some people say that the at-bats you've already had have anything
to do with the at-bats you're going to have."
Having another fantastic start, fifth in the row, C.J. Wilson threw seven solid innings and allowed only three runs to set the ball rolling for the Rangers. "It was like 'Die Hard,'" Wilson said.
However, the win dealt a severe blow to the Twins who had succeeded in overpowering the Rangers by the margin of one run (5-4) in the last game.
Texas started an incredibly fast game in no later than the second inning when Brian Duensing came to pitch. Mike Napoli scored the first run and Yorvit Torrealba went for the second followed by Elvis Andrus who drove in the third for the Rangers with an
added single of Craig Gentry, making it four.
Young drove in his two-run homer that took the score to six and Beltre earned a single, giving an early 7-0 lead to the Rangers, as Wilson would maintain the score. The inning that brought seven runs to the Rangers disappointed the Twins’ camp.
The team manager did not mince his words to express his disappointment. He said, "Ugly weather and one really bad inning out there. We missed a couple of plays. One of those innings that's a nightmare. Couldn't stop it, couldn't find a way."
Matt Tolbert scored a single to add the first run in Twins’ account in the second inning. However, Beltre came back with a single to centre, drawing his second in the game to take the Rangers’ score to 8-1.
Wilson was ever stronger with his fastballs, providing no big space to the Twins’ hitters to play comfortably. Michael Cuddyer scored the second run for the team in the fifth inning, followed by Young’s run that took the lead to 9-2.
Drew Butera scored the third for the Twins in the sixth inning following which none of the Twins’ hitters were able to take the score forward.
Michael Kirkman was the last to throw the ninth inning, which remained a shutout, giving an emphatic 9-3 victory to the Rangers in the series second game. It will indeed be interesting to see how the two teams go ahead with their third game on Saturday.
