Texas Rangers indifference disheartened Michael Young-MLB Update
Infielder, Michael Young, has shared one of the reasons why he was heartbroken and disheartened while he decided to join the Philadelphia Phillies.
He has pinpointed nonchalance of the Texas Rangers toward him as the turning point in his decision to part ways with them.
The day when the Rangers declared they are equally good even without Michael Young changed his attitude toward the club drastically. It was painful for him to realise that he is not needed by the Rangers anymore.
The team for which he played for such a long time was supposed to deal him in a pleasant manner, according to him.
Young is one of the best players that the Rangers have ever produced. He has experienced a number of great seasons with them and added substantially to their success.
Usually, the players of his calibre are retained by the organisations until the completion of their career.
Just as Chipper Jones started and ended his major league journey with the Atlanta Braves, Young has all the capabilities of the world to claim such a treatment from the Rangers.
Unfortunately, he has been traded by the Texas to the Phillies.
Young had the no-trade clause in his previous deal but he decided to leave the Rangers permanently. His feelings were hurt owing to the way the officials of the club treated him lately.
“This is a situation where the Rangers feel like they’re doing what’s best for them, but as a competitor, when they’re talking about fielding a good team and they feel like the best way to do that is to send me to a different team, obviously there’s a fire
in my belly that gets going a little bit," Young said. "And that is the nature of the beast [in the major leagues]. This is the business I decided to play in.”
The best way Young can respond to the reservations of the officials of the Rangers is by performing consistently for the Phillies in the upcoming season.
Certainly, he has the opportunity ahead to prove a point. Let's see to what extent he capitalises on it and cements his place as a regular third baseman for the Phillies.
