Texas Rangers jubilant over American League Championship Series Qualification
The Texas Rangers were jubilant on Tuesday, October 4 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg as the team earned their chance to defend their American League Title after beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 in Game 4 of the American League Division Series.
The club will now face the winner of the other division series in the American League Championship Series. Many players expressed their delight in seeing their club go through again.
"It's unbelievable," Ian Kinsler said. "We've fought all year. To get back to the ALCS, get a chance to defend our title and go back to the World Series, that's what we wanted all year."
In 2010, the Rangers beat the New York Yankees in the Championship series to win the league title and enter the World Series for the very first time in the franchise’s history. Now the club has another chance to go to the final stage again. With the San
Francisco Giants out of the National League playoffs, they will be destined to face a new National League club.
However before the Rangers can go on ahead, they need to win their upcoming series against either the Detroit Tigers or the New York Yankees. Both teams are strong and possess depth in their pitching and hitting rotation.
The Rangers however have their stars on the forefront as well. Mike Napoli is currently on fire and he can rise up to the occasion to deliver a stunning blow to the opposition. Then there is Adrian Beltre. The former Boston Red Sox player smashed three solo
homers in Game 4 on Tuesday and he is one of the best players in the line-up.
With a couple of days off, the Rangers will hope to get back in to shape. Michael Young had a few words to say about the team and the players.
"This never gets old," Young said. "It gets better every time and every time we do it, it seems like somebody else steps up, and today it was Adrian. He had a monster game."
Whichever team qualifies for the Championship Series, the Rangers will be looking to beat them down.
