Texas Rangers likely to sort pitching rotation out as Detroit Tigers to face them – MLB Playoffs
The Texas Rangers will be glad to get one of their objectives on the paper after qualifying for the American League Division Series as the club beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 in Game 4 to advance to the next stage.
The Rangers had to wait a long time before they established who their American League Championship Series opponents are. Fortunately, that wait is now over as the club will likely sort their pitching order out on October 7 at Rangers Ballpark.
Manager Ron Washington has the first game starter worked out and it is C. J. Wilson who will head to the mound for the Texans. Beyond that, there had been considerations on who to place on the frontlines. The three choices concern Colby Lewis, Derek Holland
and Matt Harrison. The three stars have all got wins to their name and were involved in the workout sessions on the field.
Lewis took the opportunity to talk to the press on Thursday, October 6 about their potential opponents. The deciding game between the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers was in play on the same day. The Rangers would face one of them in the Championship
Series.
"I haven't been told," Lewis said before the workout. "I think it all kind of depends what happens tonight and who we're going to face. Right now we're just going to go out and work out, we're not going to worry about that too much and hope those guys beat
up on each other."
With Game 5 over between the Tigers and the Yankees, Detroit has come up on top as it they now head to the Championship Series to dethrone the Texans. The only problem is that Ron Washington is a master tactician and he probably knows who to send up against
the strong hitters on the plate.
It will be interesting to watch both teams battle it out in the American League Championship Series. The Rangers will be looking to put in a good performance and dominate the proceedings as they have had time to rest and get ready for the this exciting Series.
