Texas Rangers look good as club moves towards breaking record and playing at home
The Texas Rangers were happy to maintain their one win lead over the Detroit Tigers in the play-offs home plate advantage race as they beat the Los Angeles Angels 10-3 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim on Tuesday, September 27.
The club had a lot of good things to report to the press after their 10-3 victory over the Angels. The club is looking strong and their aims are only a game away from achievement.
Colby Lewis pitched six innings in the latest encounter, giving up just three hits and two runs, while picking up his 14th win of the season. The pitcher is slated to start on Number three in the post-season and he looks great at the moment.
Second baseman Ian Kinsler went 30-30 on Tuesday when he stole his 30th base in the fourth inning against pitcher Jerome Williams. The player also smashed his 31st home-run of the season. Rangers are a win away from the club’s best
wins record in history and the star infielder commented on the situation.
Mike Napoli was a figure that was present in the hitting line-up for the Rangers. The former Angels’ catcher was pleased to see the club stay in a lead over the Tigers, as that ensures the team plays at home.
"We'd rather play the first two games at home than on the road," said Napoli. "We feel comfortable playing anywhere, but to sleep in our own beds and have your normal routine feels great."
Nelson Cruz broke his silence in hits on Tuesday. He moved to 7-for-37 when he smashed a home-run and led in two runs in the game.
"It was a good night," Cruz said. "I had good swings and I was reading pitches better. It was definitely good to have this type of game so I can finish strong."
With the Rangers in such great form, it will be interesting to see if they host the Wild-Card team or move to Yankee Stadium for their first game of the post-season. The Rangers will be looking to put in a tremendous effort in the play-offs and carry their
winning momentum as far as possible.
