Texas Rangers looking good as they dominate the Oakland Athletics 13-4 – MLB Update
One would suspect that the Texas Rangers are running cold on their recent journey to the end of the regular season but their recent win against the Oakland Athletics on Friday, September 8 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington has reignited their fan base in
Texas. They went into their first game at home, with a series loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at the Tropicana Field.
Instead of displaying jitters, the hitting line up exhibited great resilience as the team scored two runs in the first inning to draw the score line 2-2 against the A’s. Colby Lewis pitched for the team today and he fell behind in the first when Josh Willingham
smashed a two-run home-run.
Kinsler scored the first for Texas with an Adrian Beltre RBI double. David Murphy squared things with a sacrifice fly RBI. Michael Young scored the second to bring the game to a 2-2 standing.
Lewis would lose a run in the eighth inning afterwards. The Texas’ hitters however would smash their way to 13 runs, by the end of the encounter.
"That was huge," Lewis said. "That took a lot of pressure off. It's a zero-zero game again, all squared up. They're going to come out and put up a lot of runs in this park. You give up two runs early, and you've got to keep going out there and pitching."
Brandon McCarthy, who threw for the A’s believes the Texas’ offence was brilliant and aggressive.
"They hit really well, they get good at-bats, they pitch well, they do a lot of things well, and what they're doing is what we need to aspire to get up to," said McCarthy. "It's not a fluke. They're just a really good team that seems to have good performances
against us."
Even though the Rangers are 2.5 wins ahead of the Los Angeles Angels, they need their manager, Ron Washington, working overtime with the players before the season concludes and the post-season arrives. It will be interesting to see what strategy the Rangers
adopt before the end of the regular season.
