Texas Rangers looking to go 3-0 in American League Championship Series with Colby Lewis
The Texas Rangers are looking good on the front line with their pitchers providing the necessary service to avail the victories against the opposition. The club picked up a Game 2 victory over the Detroit Tigers in the American League Championship Series
on Monday, October 10, at Rangers Ballpark and they are now 2-0 up in the tournament. They will be heading to Comerica Park, Detroit with Colby Lewis on the mound in Game 3.
Derek Holland managed to pick up three runs off four hits in 2.2 innings in Game 2 but Scott Feldman came in to pitch 4.1 innings, allowing just a hit in the game. The pitching department seems strong and Lewis has a record in Comerica Park that will leave
the Tigers second guessing in Game 3. Lewis has played six games at the venue; going 4-1 with an earned run average of just 1.61.
In his seven career starts at Comerica Park, he is 4-2 with an earned run average of 2.37. The amazing thing about Lewis is that his post-season record is the strongest in comparison to his team-mates. He is 4-0 in his career post-season outing. With five
games, Lewis has an earned run average of just 1.67.
"We've got great confidence in Colby," said catcher Mike Napoli. "Everyone likes playing behind that guy. He gets the ball and gets after it every time. He works quick, the defence plays good behind him. We expect good things out of that guy."
The star is already in Detroit, powering up for the encounter on Game 3. The Rangers sent him across the country before Game 2 took place in Texas.
"All year we did this with our starters," manager Ron Washington said. "We got them into the town the day before we got there."
Lewis is undoubtedly the strongest of the Rangers’ pitcher from the post-season circuit. If Detroit will have trouble from any Texas hurler, he will be the on top of that list. The Rangers will be looking to come out strong and dominate the game early.
