Texas Rangers lose World Series bid, but Lee still acquirable
The World Series concluded on Monday when the San Francisco Giants beat the Texas Rangers 3–1 in the 5th game. For both teams, reaching the final stage was an accomplishment that could not be compared to anything in
the past. It was true that the ball clubs were strong in their respective leagues during the regular season, but with big teams going through to the finals, many did not see the two power house ball clubs making it past the championship. Nevertheless, when
both teams entered the final tournament, big players were present in the squad and they combined to turn the major event into a stellar sell-out.
The Rangers may have lost the World Series, but they still have time to consider signing on the maturing free agents who will be free of their clubhouse authority in the next 5 days. The Texans will have to try to hang on to one
of their shinning pitchers in the squad in the coming days and that man is Cliff Lee. The exuberant ball thrower will go free on Sunday and the Rangers will hope to see the veteran maestro prolong his stay in the South coast. Already 32, Lee has been waiting
for a chance to go free since last year. Now, there are only five days left till that happens and current team mate, Michael Young backs his partner up.
The third baseman feels the pitcher has earned himself a chance to do what he wants and he backed it up with a statement, saying, "Cliff has earned the right to see who wants him and how badly. As a teammate and a friend, I'm
going to back him no matter what he does. But it goes without saying, we want him here."
Lee recently shared a few views on the Rangers’ run in the year and said, "I like this team. It was a very fun team to be on and a very talented group of guys. I expect this team to do really good things next year. There is a lot
of firsts for this organization. We were the second-best team in the big leagues. We can use this as motivation to do better next year."
It seems that Lee may stay after all and with the Rangers heading into a new era, the opportunity can be too great to miss. Furthermore, there are no income taxes in Texas which gives the player an incentive to stay there with
his family. The economic leverage is low in the area and with a developing love for the team, one can suspect Cliff will find it gratifying to prolong his stay in Texas.
