Texas Rangers lose to Oakland Athletics 0-2 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers lost to Oakland Athletics 0-2 at O.co Coliseum in Oakland, California on Wednesday, June 6 in the decisive finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Ron Washington and his men will be extremely frustrated at their performance on Wednesday evening. After putting up a brilliant fight in second game, the Rangers were hoping to end the series on a high note but the batters struggled at the plate and the
Rangers had no answers against Oakland’s starting pitcher Bartolo Colon, who pitched eight scoreless innings.
Yoenis Cespedes, once again, showed just how valuable he is to the Athletics. The striker scored in the second inning, had an RBI single in the fourth and triple in the sixth to help his side shutout their American League West rivals.
Former Tigers’ third baseman Brandon Inge also played a crucial role in deciding the outcome of the clash as he singled to centre in the second inning to score the first run for Oakland.
“I hate to not give a credit when he does that well but you’d think as good as our offense is that we’d get something done,” Rangers outfielder David Murphy said. “He didn’t try to trick us. He threw all fastballs. He changed the location and mixed it up
in that sense, but he basically beat us throwing all fastballs tonight.”
“He still knows what he’s doing,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said. “He’s a very smart guy. Some nights he gets away with it and some nights he doesn’t. Tonight, he did.”

“We’ve got to be more consistent,” Nelson Cruz said
Colon won only for the second time in his last nine outings, improving his record to 18-6 in 28 starts against Texas Rangers. It will be interesting to see if he can give similar performances throughout the season to give the Athletics a chance to make it
to the playoffs.
Texas’ starting pitcher Colby Lewis suffered a rare loss against his former club; Texas Oakland Athletics. Despite having a solid outing on Wednesday evening, he was unlucky to end up on the losing side.
