Texas Rangers lose to Seattle Mariners 1-6 – MLB Recap
The Texas Rangers lost to Seattle Mariners 1-6 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, May 21 at Safeco Field, Seattle in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Starter Felix Hernandez played well and earned a great victory for his team who now carries a four-game winning streak.
Felix alone stood tall against the huge Texas batting lineup for eight straight innings allowing only run and one earned run.
"Attack and just throw strikes, If you get behind against this lineup, it's a problem. How hot (Hamilton) is right now, that was pretty good," Hernandez said with quite confidence.
Later Seattle manager Eric Wedge said for Hernandez and on his great outing, "He can throw anything at any time, obviously has a good arm and keeps the ball down for the most part. Our guys went up there, made him come into the zone and when he didn't, took the passes when we could."
On the other hand, the Texas starter Yu Darvish could not play well and left giving five important runs and four hits.
"I was apologetic. I wasn't able to go deep in the game as a starter should, Giving up those runs with only four hits; overall the approach and substance wasn't that good." said Darvish disappointingly and somewhat accepted his poor play.
From start of the game, the Mariners kept their pressure on last year’s World Series qualifiers Texas Rangers and gave no chance to score until eighth inning. The Mariners until eighth inning had already secured their position with six runs on the board and eventually took the game away in style.
In the meanwhile, despite the Rangers lost that particular game against the Mariners, but still they are carrying .605 strong win percentages as well as 26-17 win loss record.
However, for the Mariners’, this win was special as they won the fourth straight win after defeating the Colorado Rockies in their three-match regular series just one day ago.
Now they are sitting quite comfortable at third position in the American League West with .455 win percentage along with 20-24 win loss record.
