Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington annoyed over travelling schedule
Texas Rangers manager, Ron Washington, was not happy with the situation that came forth. The team had a night encounter against the Seattle Mariners for their last outing in a three-game series.
The club has to face the New York Yankees next on their home ground in Arlington and the situation was not appreciated when the manager realized they would have to move out late.
The team will be landing in Texas at 6:00 a.m. in the morning of the match and there will be practically less time to prepare for their fixture against the Yanks.
The situation is similar to their first road trip of the new Major League Baseball season. They took on the Yanks on April 17 and had to fly back to Texas late at night in a bid to take on the Los Angeles Angels at home.
"I think it's messed up", Washington said. "Just like making us play at eight o'clock on Sunday night against the Yankees and then play the Angels the next night. Now we have to play the Yankees. It's the schedule. I'm not complaining, but it's the schedule.
Yeah, I am complaining. I wish we could play a day game".
The situation was complicated to begin with. The Mariners have been restricted by the City on the number of days they can play baseball in Safeco Field. The venue is in the downtown district and club is only allowed eight day fixtures. The problem is the
traffic jams it causes during the morning hours.
The only way the Mariners can reserve their day games is when they will be flying out of the city in their next series. Unfortunately, that was not the case as the side will take on the Chicago White Sox in their following series.
"We tried," Rangers vice president John Blake said. "The Mariners try to help us when they can, but their schedule is so bad".
Major League Baseball schedules can play havoc on the citizens of a city on various occasions and that is something that is not warranted by the local authorities.
