Texas Rangers pitcher Roy Oswalt to play in Triple-A Round Rock – MLB Recap
The Texas Rangers newly signed free agent Roy Oswalt will wait for his turn to play a Major League game for his new team as he is going into minors to play in Triple-A Round Rock.
"My arm feels great, my body feels great, I think we'll go out and try to have a 50- or 60-pitch count that first game and I'm hoping after about four starts to be ready to join the team. I know my body. I know where I'm at, I feel as healthy as ever." Oswalt said
Oswalt added, "A lot of it was Nolan, I have a lot of respect for Nolan and watched him growing up. He was an idol of mine. To get a guy like that to stand behind you and put a stamp on you means a lot as a player."
Rangers management, who have signed former Houston Astros’ ace pitcher in order to increase their productivity level, are thinking quite intelligently here to send new signing into the minors to gain some self-possession.
The Rangers’ organization recognize as Oswalt has not been around in the Majors for a long time now and they actually wanted him to play well for Texas in crucial stages of the competition, they must give him some time to establish his own game with much prowess.
With the recent poor performances, the Rangers earlier made a drastic decision to bring someone who can bring stability in their franchise.
Roy Oswalt was a free agent when the Rangers signed him for one year worth $4.25 million. Oswalt is coming with 9-10 along with 3.69 ERA as he spend last season with Philadelphia Phillies. Though he performed well in the Phillies franchise, but due to lower-back soreness, he had to go on to disabled list for two times which also caused his future relation with the Phillies as they did not sign him for another year.
Before playing in the Phillies franchise, Oswalt had played some nine years in the Houston Astros. During his time in the Houston, Oswalt has also achieved number of awards including three-time inclusion as All-Star and two-time National League Player of the week.
