Texas Rangers prepared to enter World Series again
The Texas Rangers may have lost the World Series in 2010 but they will be back in the contest soon when they go to the Busch Stadium to meet the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 1. The club lost the 2010 tournament to the San Francisco Giants but things have
changed progressively for the club that had never been at the top level of the competition before last year. Now with one appearance under the belt, the club told the press on Monday, October 17, that they are sure that the experience will count in the second
straight year appearance.
Michael Young, who was .118 in the postseason before Game 6 of the American League Championship Series, was one man to prove his quality as he went up to .250 in the series with a 3-for-6 hitting knock. He drove in five runs and scored two, one from a special
home run in that game against the Detroit Tigers. He believes the club is ready for the challenge.
"Nothing's going to take us by surprise when we get there. We've been saying that all postseason. We know what to expect, we know it's going to be nuts when we get back to town, but I think we know now to focus on the things that really matter, and our attention
is totally to what happens between the lines."
Another man who thinks things are different is David Murphy. He believes the Giants had strong pitching at their disposal.
"I feel like we ran into a good pitching staff. We know that we're going to run into solid pitching staffs at this time of year, but I think our offense, as good as it was last year, we could have scratched out more runs here and there."
Murphy went on to say that the club did not perform as well as they were capable of. The squad was rammed by good pitching and it was the execution that made all the major difference, in the end.
Murphy is currently on .391 in hitting and he has slugging rate of .565 in the postseason. He has scored four runs and drove in three runs. His On-base Percentage is at a gratifying .481.
