Texas Rangers rout Los Angeles Angels 11-3 – MLB Recap
The Texas Rangers thrashed the Los Angeles Angels 11-3 in the last game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, April 24 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.
Rangers showed their best game of the series when they approached the stadium on Wednesday. With this win, the Rangers also won the series 2-1.
“That's the best fastball he's had since I've been catching him. He was throwing it down and away to righties and lefties, and changing speeds with it. His pitch count ran a little bit high because he had a bunch of strikeouts, but that's as good as you
can throw as a starting pitcher with a big lead," A.J. Pierzynski said.
He added, “He had it all going tonight, obviously. Other than the leadoff walk to (Peter) Bourjos in the first, he was pretty locked in. Obviously, you don't count on scoring nine runs in an inning very often.”
Starter Yu Darvish played exceptionally well and struck out eleven Angels’ batters on 1.65 ERA. He pitched six solid innings and allowed only three hits.
Relief pitcher Derek Lowe pitched 1.2 innings and received four hits and allowed three runs. He also allowed three earned runs on 4.82 ERA.
The remaining Rangers’ pitchers also played well and stood tall against the entire aggressive Angels’ batting line-up and won the game in style.
Rangers’ batters also played well and hammered the Angels’ pitchers with great force. Designated hitter Lance Berkman scored two runs and ran for four RBIs on his four at bats.
On the other hand, the Angels’ pitchers did not play according to the plan. In-fact they just pitched way-ward and proved ineffective for their team.
Michael Roth pitched 3.1 innings and received five runs and six hits. He pitched 3.1 innings and was only able to strike out two Angels’ batters on 7.56 ERA.
Relief pitcher David Carpenter pitched 0.1 innings and received four runs and two hits along with four earned runs. His ERA went sky-high at 108.00.
Closer Michael Kohn also could not impress with his one inning spell. He allowed two runs and received three hits on 9.00 ERA. It will be interesting to see if the Rangers can carry this momentum forward for their next series.
