Texas Rangers shock San Francisco Giants 5-0 – MLB Recap
The Texas Rangers defeated the San Francisco Giants 5-0 in the third and final of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, June 10 at AT&T Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Coming into this particular game, San Francisco had a chance to win the series but not only their previous victory went useless but they also lost the chance to take away the series as well.
"Seemed like everything we tried to do, worked for us." Texas manager Ron Washington said on his team great effort which gave no chance to the Giants’ batters to score even a single run.
Alexi Ogando played well for the Rangers but left with groin injury as he could not finish the game throwing only three innings’ scoreless spell.
"Right now it feels pretty bad, I feel bad because of the situation we're in, but that's something that happens in baseball." said Ogando.
Later relief pitcher Robbie Ross came as Ogando’s replacement and did well on the mound. The pitched four innings and never allowed any run giving the Rangers a good win.
"I wanted Ogando to keep going to possibly get that, which was sweet, Then I get in there and after the first inning I'm like, 'Oh, dang, we have a no-hitter going.' After that, I kind of forgot. That's part of it." Ross said.
Tim Lincecum on the other hand, proved disastrous for the Giants. He was hammered with five runs, nine hits and five earned runs and could not maintain his ERA of 6.00.
Later in the game, Lincecum said on his poor performance, "I was just looking to come in and compete against a very good team, try to right what I've been doing wrong the last 10 starts.”
The entire game was dominated by the Rangers. From start to end, they played intelligently and gave the Giants no chance to score even a single run.
The Rangers took early lead of three runs at the end of fourth inning. At that point, they were total in control and looked very aggressive. Further in the six, the Rangers made two more runs and secured a great victory.
