Texas Rangers’ starting pitcher Neftali Feliz out for season – MLB News
Texas Rangers’ starting pitcher Neftali Feliz will not be playing the remaining 2012 Major League Baseball season due to potential Tommy John surgery.
He needed this surgery due to his ripped ulnar collateral ligament of right hand. Rangers’ team physician Dr. Keith Meister will perform the procedure while the entire management seem relieved and hoping a great next season for their starter.
"It's something that makes you feel bad, But there's nothing you can do about it. I just have to follow my rehab and try to get back as soon as I can. I'm going to work hard and do my best and see what happens, If I throw 110, that's great," said Feliz recently
on his potential surgery.
On one end, it is good for 24-year old, but some experts are also stating in the media that his surgery will reduce the Rangers’ chances to go as clear leaders into the next round.
"It's a blow for him and for the club, Doctors feel he should be a perfect candidate to have a 100 percent recovery and be back at some point next summer assuming all goes well," general manager Jon Daniels said on his player’s recent condition and  the
aspects of his potential absence.
Jon Daniels also told the media that the Rangers management knew about Feliz’s condition but they remained silent due to some covered plan of team manager Ron Washington.
Washington, who always believed Feliz’s extraordinary pitching skills, still has not spoken in any media personnel and explained about his thoughts on his talented starting pitcher’s potential future in this season or in the next.
Feliz was struggling with his pitching arm since spring training. In an early 2012 Spring Training game, the management stopped him to pitch further after three innings’ play and sent him to a week’s rest. The team doctors told the media Feliz felt stiffness
in his right shoulder and needs proper rest.
Later Texas starter recovered and started his 2012 MLB season on high note. He did well on the mound and proved winning factor for his team in many games.
However, as soon as the second month of the season was started, Feliz began to feel soreness in his throwing arm and developed a constant pain. He was put on to disabled list with right elbow inflammation.
He started rehabbing in mid-June with completion of a throwing programme designed by the Rangers’ doctors for these types of players’ issues.
While later just after the 2012 All Star break, Feliz again felt discomfort with his throwing arm as team doctors later suggested him to undergo the distinguished Tommy John procedure.
In 2012, before getting injured, Feliz played with 3.16 ERA along with 3-1 win-loss, 37 strikeouts and 1.20 WHIP.
