Texas Rangers tame the Tigers- extend their winning streak to 7
Texas Rangers have been on the rise recently and their 10 games difference in the American League West division is all that was needed to display their roster’s prowess and confidence.
The match began with the Detroit Tigers on the prowl again. Austin Jackson made the 1st innings count for the side as he began his time on the diamond with a walk towards the first base. Poor judgment from Colby Lewis got Jackson the chance to
easily steal the second also. Willy Rhymes then came in to move the hitter to the third base with a sacrifice fly. The score was finally registered when Johnny Damon grounded out to first and allowed Austin run home.
Miguel Cabrera came in and was walked to the first. The move was a regretful one as Ryan Raburn’s double to the deep left got Cabrera to the last base for the 2nd run of the match. The damage was done early-on which left the Rangers reeling under
a 2 run deficit. However, much was to be played for as the game progressed further. The Texas side made their opponents fight tooth and nail when they pulled two back in the bottom 2nd.
Vladimir Guerrero started off the innings with a sensational 437 feet home run that he banged towards the left centre. Nelson Cruz then scored in the same innings following some luck from the Tigers’ catcher. The hitter came on and doubled to the deep right
centre. Ian Kinsler made his contribution with a sacrifice to the first, getting Cruz to the third base. That’s when catcher, Alex Avila made a throwing error; ultimately, releasing Cruz for the equalizer of the game.
The bottom 3rd saw Rangers gain lead as Elvis Andrus started the show with an infield single. The hitter than made his way to the third base. Andrus finally scored when pitcher, Armando Galarraga made a throwing error. Detroit were now in tartars
but their misery just didn’t end there. Young scored off Guerrero’s double play grounder as the innings came to a close with the visitors in losing position and a 2 points deficit.
Texas were back in the scoring form during the bottom 4th and Mitch Moreland marked the game with his influence as he ran home off Young’s sacrifice fly to the right. The player got to that position through a single to the right centre and two
subsequent singles from Julio Borbon and Andrus. There were two men on the bases and David Murphy entered the fray at the very right moment. That’s because he drove in 3 runs with a long and furious homer smash to the right. The 424 feet screamer brought on
8 runs on the board for the side.
Tigers were now in the back line and it took Miguel to get his team to some fight back stance in the top 5th. Avila tried to make up for his throwing error as he made his way to the third base off Lewis’ pitching. He made it to the last base when
Cabrera hit a sacrifice fly to the right. Raburn then came in and doubled to the deep right to get Rhymes and Damon through the last base. Cruz then came in for Rangers in the bottom 5th and he started off with a double to the left while then went
clear for the 9th Texas run through a Kinsler single to the centre.
The next batch of runs came in the top 7th and the Detroit side was back in full swing. This time Damon scored and the player made his way to the final base through Miguel’s sacrifice fly hit towards the centre. The team moved to 7 runs with Raburn
who kept his form up with a 419 feet home run to the centre. Both teams were now on a competitive standing in the match and the game seemed to cross into a good session.
However, Texas Rangers had a different look on things and Kinsler made it 11 for the team when he drove a 423 feet homer to the centre, getting Cruz through the last base with ease. Tigers were speechless and they fell out with a 4 run deficit in the end.
