Texas Rangers tune into interests developing over Michael Young
The Texas Rangers are looking to add power to their roster in the off-season. One of the recent issues at the club has been related to the pitching rotation. Although, there have been moves made in the free agency to acquire star
talent, the biggest loss to the club has come in the form of Cliff Lee. The top player in the free market is looking to decide on a move soon and while he is actively looking for the best offer in the winter meetings, the Rangers are probing for ball players.
The side has been actively pursuing its own squad members and moves are being made in the recent days to retain the likes of Lee, Vladimir Guerrero and Bengie Molina. There have been additions made to the side and one player in
particular has come in to replace the ageing Molina, who has expressed his desire to move out of the game, this year.
Guerrero is anticipating a pay hike and that is not something the Rangers are willing to entertain in the coming days. His option was declined by the club and he was not offered arbitration either. The veteran will only be allowed
to return to the side a one-year deal, in many observers’ estimation. There has been a change in the ownership, this year and the Texans are hoping to add new players to the roster.
Expenses are one of the leading concerns of the side and while many believe the current squad has done wonders, there has to be a balance in the formation. However, when one thinks of a leader in the side, Michael Young is a name
that comes straight to the mind. The longest Rangers player has been through many seasons in a slump and many would consider him a quality leader.
Nevertheless, new reports have come in that the Colorado Rockies are interested in the veteran. The Rangers’ President, Nolan Ryan came out to say, "We're not shopping Young, but we have been asked about him. As in all requests,
we look to see what the interest level is. If someone called about (Neftali) Feliz, we would do the same thing."
The side has been edging close for trade deals and the club is adamant about sparing cash as Lee looks to announce a tying price for his services, soon.
