Texas Rangers visit Children's Medical Centre Foundation – MLB News
The Texas Rangers’ players and staff on Wednesday, December 14, visited the Children's Medical Centre Foundation as part of their annual holiday outreach. The gesture brought tremendous joy on the faces of hospitalised kids as the team spent the morning
with them.
The team that visited the Centre included the players of the Texas Rangers, coaches, executives, alumni and broadcasters. In the holiday season, for the kids this was an action that meant to enliven the kids.
Josh Hamilton was one of the players who made his conspicuous presence during the outreach. Emphasising the fact that the main priority is to give the kids smile.
"When you're sick, you don't feel like having a good attitude," Hamilton said of the children he met at Children's Medical Center of Dallas on Wednesday. "The biggest thing is to try to encourage them ... and give them a big smile."
As much as for the children was the occasion important and filled with joy, the Texas Rangers had the same amount of zeal and happiness to share. Thad Levine, the Texas Rangers’ assistant general, manager was of the same view.
"This means the world to the players," Levine said. "The kids light us up. Their smiles from ear to ear make you realize that everything you have going on in your life, you need to think twice and ... be thankful for everything positive in your life."
Mike Maddux who is the pitching coach of the Texas Rangers, Ian Kinsler and Michael Young visited individual rooms in ICU. All the same, Ian Kinsler, along with his wife, donated 15,000 dollars to the Foundation.
Among other players who were with the Rangers were David Murphy and Josh Hamilton, broadcasters Eleno Ornelas, Dave Barnett and Tom Grieve; alumni Pete O'Brien, Jim Sundberg, John Wetteland and Jose Guzman and coach manager Ron Washington; hitting coach
Scott Coolbaugh.
This was indeed a good gesture not only for the kids who would certainly need such lively moments in the life, but for the sport as a whole as it showed that the players were not merely obsessed with their game alone.
