Texas Rangers win 7-3 against Los Angeles Angels – MLB Update
Ron Washington let the Rangers know they play was of poor quality in the first two games and they responded brilliantly, beating Los Angeles Angels 7-3 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in Anaheim, California on Sunday, June 3 in the finale of their three match
series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Nelson Cruz made the most of available opportunities, helping starting pitcher Matt Harrison win his third straight start. It will not be wrong to say that Cruz played a crucial role in Rangers 7-3 win against Los Angeles on Sunday. Harrison allowed just
three runs and four hits with three walks in six plus innings.
"Two out of three is not bad against a good team like Texas because they're the champs, so you've got to be happy with it," Angels outfielder Torii Hunter said. "We know them, they know us, and it's going to be a battle all year long. Right now we're getting
by. We're playing a lot better baseball than we did the first six weeks, but we're a lot better than what we've shown."
"The thing I was really upset about was the walks and the pitch to Hester," Harrison said
Elvis Andrus provided the Rangers with a perfect start as he doubled to deep right centre in the third inning to score the first run for his team. Michael Young had an RBI single to right in the fifth to double Rangers’ advantage to 2-0. Erick Aybar helped
the Angles bounce back strongly in the fifth with an RBI double to left.
Second baseman Ian Kinsler grounded out to shortstop in the sixth to extend Rangers’ lead to 3-1 but Angles continued to battle back. John Hester hit a mighty home run to reduce the deficit to 2-3. On getting a green signal from Manager Washington, Cruz
started to swing his bat more freely and he connected one in the seventh to change the complexion of the game.
Mike Napoli had an RBI single to left and Elvis Andrus singled to left in the ninth to help the Rangers end the game on a strong note.
