Texas State required testing......Where do I find out about it?

I started homeschooling my son in 2006 and am now worried that I messed up on some important testing. He was just going into his eighth grade when we moved to a different state and decided to homeschool him. We now live in Texas and would like to know if there was state testing that was required in his eighth grade year and also now in his nineth grade year. Also, were can I go to find out and where do I take him to get the tests? Can they be purchased online and done online? About how much do they cost?

Thank you in advance!

  1. Nope, no required testing for homeschool students in the state of texas. A lot of parents choose to test at regular intervals to monitor progress and/or as a back up incase tragedy hits and they have to place their children in public school.

but, it is not required at all.

PS if you are interested in testing, your local homeschool group, THSC or a homeschool bookstore can help you find tests. Some websites offer them as well, I think Bob Jones does, but don't shoot me if I'm wrong.

  2. No testing required, and I wouldn't bother with it at this point.

  3. As Terri said, there is no required testing in Texas. You can find standardized testing through http://www.academicsuperstore.com/item/?...

however, I suggest you read this first

  4. You may want to contact the Texas Home School Association; they may be able to answer your questions.

If we decided to test our youngsters, which we have not, and it is not a requirement here either we will order them again from CLP.

We do use it when they complete their high school program.

The cost is about $20.00 if I remember correctly.

Anyone can order it, and administer the test; it can be used to add to a child's port folio if needed.

  5. There is absolutely no required testing in Texas. Nothing is required in Texas. They don't check on you, you don't file anything... If you needed testing in that other state, it's too late now and probably doesn't matter.
