I can only get my friends to play $10 games. Yea I know its not much. But the question has arose as to what it cost to buy back in. There are 6 of us and we all started with $10. Once someone is knocked out does it cost $10 to buy back in?

I remember in Casino Royale that it was 10 mil to start, 5 million rebuy.

So is it the full amount of what you started at or just half?

  1. The only way I can see letting someone buy back in for half the amount is if they are playing for cash. And the buy in amount is equal to cash value. This way there's a disadvantage for the re buy person being a short stack.

Most rebuy situations are usually equal to the original buy in or more. And most home games with rebuy situations don't play for cash value, they give out higher chip denominations and play sit n go tournament style. Meaning playing a home game were everyone buys in for $10 but gets $2000 worth of chips.

I beleive it should be slightly more money to rebuy to make people not want to rebuy and they play more normal and not as loose.

What we do at our home game that works nice for us, is we start with a $6 total buy in,  (we're all broke a**es) $5 into the main pot and have $1 for a side pot of first 4 of a kind or better. And if someone wants to rebuy it's $7 total, $5 into the main pot and $2 into the side pot. This little extra helps deter the rebuy. We had our side pot over $100 a couple times with an average of 8 people when we play. Limit 1 re buy.

There are alot of people who really don't like re buys. This is because they think I already knocked this guy out, and now I gotta do it again. And the loose play early benifits the person with the most money. The person with the most $$ can out buy someones luck. This is why re buys should be limited if any.

And rebuying should be the same amount of chips that were the starting amount. And the blinds being higher is a penalty for being knocked out and needing to rebuy.

  2. if you play ring games, the usual minimum buy in is around 100X the small blind. if you are playing in a tournament format, it's usually equal to the original cost of the buy in.

I think in casino royale, they had a lower rebuy because it was only a 9 player tourney, so they wanted to encourage people to buy back in.

  3. there should not be a set limit to buy back in. Its good to have the standard buy in.

As long as you have the blinds in play it wont matter how much they buy in for because they will eventually have to pay up.
