Poker Question?

I was in a poker tournament tonight. I placed 7th and made the final table but Im not sure if I made a good choice when I went out. I was suited with two clubs. I was big blind which was 6 thousand, after beting big blind I had 27 thousad in my hand. He raised to 12 so i called. the flop was two clubs and an Ace. He called me all in. I called thinking I could flop an club. Was that the right move. Also I was the second lowest chip count.

  1. Risking all your chips on a guess is never a good move, even if the chances are in your favor.

Without knowing the other cards, there is a lower chance of the turn and the river being a club because of the cards in your hand.

On his part, that was a good all-in to try and get you to fold before you could get your club to make the flush.

  2. Without knowing your stacks it is hard to say.

Basically after the flop, you are going to make your flush about 35% of time time.  So you have to ask yourself if the pot is paying you enough to make that draw.  It doesn't sound like it was, so it was a bad call.

Also it doesn't sound like you needed to make a desperation play here.  Sure your stack was low relative to the blinds, but you were not dead yet.

You called an all in with a flush draw.  I'd have less of a problem with it if you had pushed all in, and let the other player call you.  This would give you command of the pot.  But to call off all your chips on a draw is not the best of ideas.  Especially when you are not geting the proper odds.
