Texas manager Ron Washington becoming an iconic manager as World Series nears conclusion
If the Texas Rangers have one highlight for the last two years, that has been their achievement in reaching the World Series on both occasions. The club is looking strong in its pursuit for the ultimate prize this season and they are 3 – 2 in the tournament
against the St. Louis Cardinals. With a Game 6 scheduled soon, the club would like to pick up the trophy by the end of the day. Ron Washington managed to speak to the press on Tuesday, October 25.
Washington had a problem with illegal substances in 2009. After revealing his addiction problem, he climbed back on the Texas horse to kick off the regular season in 2010. As the club went bankrupt and changed ownership hands through auction, Washington
made all the right moves as he guided his team to the playoffs.
Looking for the first series win in the postseason, they beat the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees to reach the World Series. The lost to the San Francisco Giants but Washington has done it again. Through hard team work and compassion, the manager
has guided the club to the ultimate stage again; this time against the Cards.
With potentially two games left, Washington told the press what he has been doing over the past few years to lead the club to this stage.
"You do the things you think it's going to take on a daily basis to be successful, then you become fortunate enough that your players execute the things that you ask them to do and get focused on the things that it's going to take to be successful," Washington
said. "And when they do that, it makes you proud.
"It makes you proud of your coaching staff because you delegate to them, and then they have to apply it to the players, and the players have to accept it and get it done."
The manager went on to say that the formula has worked well for the Texas Rangers so far and that is due to the relationship between the players and the coaches. He stressed on both parties getting along and him being part of the mix. At the end, he surmised,
it all works out.
