Question:

Textbook Crisis! Wrong Edition, does this matter?

I ordered my books online because it was much cheaper than my campus bookstore. They sent me the wrong edition, and I'm having problems getting in touch with the seller which is an issue but im dealing with it.

The problem is I have a lab on Monday and I need this book for it- will the edition make that much of a difference until I can get this problem resolved? My professor didn't seem interested in the edition, he never said anything about it- the bookstore told me the name and edition of the book.

In case you are wondering- the book is:

General Zoology- Laboratory Manual by Stephen A. Miller- I need edition 6 I have edition 5.

Thanks for all help!!

  1. Go to the school library

    find the book

and check it out if you can

then use that book until you get the book you need

if you cant get the book from your school library

then you can try to sell the book you got, and buy the book that you need. unless it is in low demand then just go and talk your professor and see what he/she says to do.

  2. The only issue would be if the problem number changes. You should be covering the basics of the class in the beginning, so you have time to sort this out because the basics don't change that much.

  3. Ask your professor, if you can.  While general lab procedures may not have changed that much, it's better to be safe than sorry.

If you really need that edition by Monday, I'd see if maybe you can get it online somehwere else -- try to see if you can get it overnighted to you.  I think FedEx delivers on Saturdays.  Also try local bookstores.
