  1. How would we know? Only your exam board can decide that. You can get an A, if you try really hard. What about all your other subjects? Is textiles gonna get you a dream job?

  2. I'm sorry to tell you this, but it's near impossible.

If you got a B, you got between 60% and 70%.

To get an A*, you need to get, overall, over 80%.

If you got over 68% in your practical part, you could get just over 80% by getting full marks in the exam.

Anything less than 68% in the practical or 100% in the exam, and you can't get an A*.

Assuming you got 68%, and it's worth 60% of the mark, then overall that exam is worth 40.8% (68% of 60%). The exam is only worth 40%, so only if you got 100% of 40% could you get an overall score of 80.8%.

Edit: I got a C in my practical, and an A overall, so your exam can pull your grade up by a lot. To be honest, most places would consider an A to be just as good as an A*. Don't worry too much about it.

  3. hi there, i think you can! i'm going textiles and i think it might just about be possible if you get basically full marks in the exam. it depends on how high your B is and what the grade boundaries are with your exam board. we're doing ours with aqa, so maybe you could see if they have any past papers with mark schemes (download at www.aqa.org.uk). and you should also keep asking your teacher until she gives you a straight answer. it also depends on what grade your teacher has predicted you at, my teacher told us that if you are said to be predicted an A they raise the boundaries of you getting an A. You really need to ask your teacher. hope this helps :) X X X
