Texting symbols on enV?

I'm having an annoying little problem with my Verizon LG enV. When I use the keyboard to type certain symbols some other text or characters randomly appear with it. It's not a huge deal and I can erase them but it's annoying. For instance when I type the $ sign with my enV the number 205 automatically appears; so when I press SYM and then 4 "$205" appears and I have to erase the digits to write anything else. This doesn't happen with all the characters, just a few.

Is there anyway to get rid of this? I don't know why these are set like this or how to get rid of them. I must have typed these things in once and somehow saved them. This happened on my old enV and then when I got a new one it eventually developed its own unique combinations. It uses the same ones every

I noticed the same thing on my enV, the phone stores recently typed characters, it does get really annoying but I don't think there's any way to change it.
