Texting uk to america and vice versa?

I am wanting to text a friend from America,

I live in England and i have a T - mobile phone

I have their number it has 10 digits in it

x*x - x*x - xxxx

can anybody tell me what i would have to do to text them like the numbers infront ive heard 001 and +1 and stuff but im not sure what one it is

And how much approximatly would it be?

And what woud they have to do to text me my number has 07xxxxxxxxx would they have to replace the 07 with +44 or something?

and how long does it take to recieve it?

i am not sure. but you should really call T mobile and ask them this question. find there # on one of your bills.
