Texting while walking with someone else?

Does it p**s anyone else off when you're walking with someone and instead of talking to you, they're on their phone texting?

I swear I'm tempted to just take their phone from them and break it in two.

It makes me feel like I'm not worth their time.

  1. Cell phone use, whether talking or text messaging, while in the presence of others is rude. If it's an emergency or business that's unavoidable, that's one thing, but just to chat with a friend or relative while with another is horrible manners.

Call waiting is almost as bad. I usually hang up when someone puts me on hold for more than 10 seconds. When they want to talk to me they can call me back.

  2. Why not take out your phone and text them? Say something like "Hey, in case you haven't noticed, I'm right next to you."

  3. If they are in a texonversation before you meet them then it's all right aslong as they are ending the convo but if they are texting, laughing and ignoring you then it is bad manners!

  4. Just tell them plainly to put it away or you will leave them alone.  Hopefully they'll get the message.

  5. being on your cell phone when you're with someone/anyone else is rude in general!  and those people are obviously scumbags and have no sense of etiquette.  its extremely rude and pisses me off!  i never do it!

  6. I think it is rude and I have actually just walked away from people who do this.  If they do not have the "common" courtesy to put their cell phone away for the amount of time they are with me then they need to be with the person who they so "urgently" are texting.  I even have a rule that when my kids come over to eat that they "texting" goes out the door.  Shut them off or don't enjoy Mom's cooking that you "beg" for.  I don't ask for large amounts of time...so respect me when I am with you!!!

    Peace & Love :)

  7. I think that would p**s me off in a big way.  I'd probably stop and find a place to sit while I let the other person keep on walking.  But I can't stand texting period.  Let's buy a phone and use it for instant messages.  Why not buy a high end car and use it for the radio..

  8. yeah walking away is good!~

or start messing with them they are walking you just dead stop so it look like they are walking alone!

and turn around go the other way and try to lose them!

    or really mess with them!

Oops you almost stepped on a crack!

WHATCH OUT for the mail box!

Yuckky you just stepped in dog poo!

i mean have fun with it take them off their balance (not really but mentally)

    start mocking them!

  9. it is so incredibly rude!!!! i hate when im with a friend and they are on the phone with someone or texting! im sorry but im out with you! not your phone! im sorry im not interesting enough to hang out with that you need to text someone else

lol can you tell it hits a nerve.

  10. I agree with you it's very rude

  11. Some people have what is called "Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder".  Your friend might have this.  And today's fast pace, complex modern lifestyles seem to highlight these problems in people.  He/She can remedy with problem by taking Ritalin twice a day.

  12. Yes, gotta agree that is very rude.  I would ask if they are that bored being in your company that you have to text message someone.

  13. Next time someone does that, grab your phone and send them a text.  They'll get the hint.

  14. YES!!  This pisses me off so much.  Not only texting but people who will talk on their cell phones in front of you.

Sometimes I am on a date and the guy will answer his phone.  I immediately tell him that he should turn his cell phone off and focus on us.  They usually respond by saying that it was this person or whatever.

I tell them fine.  Take me home and continue with your conversation.  When you are ready to devote your time to me then contact me.  Otherwise, don't bother.

However, I went on a trip with my sisters and while I was talking with one of them, she would pick up her contraption and start texting.  I told her how rude that was and she just said to keep talking that she is listening.

    Rude.

  15. It looks like the person is a slave of the phone.

  16. It is very RUDE!!  The new electronic life is good, but make people LESS thoughtful.
