Texts from my Verizon "EnV" to my friends AT&T Wireless "Shine" sometimes take a while to send & receive. Why?

A majority of the time, when I send texts to my girlfriend's LG Shine with an AT&T Wireless plan from my LG EnV with a Verizon plan, it takes about 10-20 minutes for the text to be sent. And sometimes when she sends multiple texts to me, they come in different orders. The slow texting happens for the both of us. Is it my phone? Is it her phone? Thanks!

The problem is that there is no guaranteed delivery for SMS.  The message could be delayed at the gateway between Verizon and AT&T or even not arrive at all.  There is nothing that you can do about it.

You might try sending emails between your phones instead of SMS since that travels a different path and you are also not charged per message.  It does require that you both have data plans and email accounts setup on your phones though.
