Tey Seu Bock confident for top class performance from Lee Chong Wei in current year – Badminton news
Malaysia’s national coach for Men’s Singles, Tey Seu Bock, is confident that Lee Chong Wei will get rid of his dip in form in the current year and will get back on the winning track. He knows that Chong Wei has the skill and dedication to overcome his loop poles.
The coach wants the shuttler to deliver a winning performance in the upcoming Korea Open Premier Super Series 2012, starting from January 3, at Seoul, Korea, and the Malaysia Open Super Series 2012, which will take place in Malaysia from January 10-15.
Chong Wei, who is currently World Number One, has been facing problems while playing against China’s Lin Dan and Chen Long for the last four months and lost to them six times in the last seven meetings.
However, the coach knows that Chong Wei is a quick learner and will never repeat same mistakes as he has learnt a lot from the recent defeats. Now the top seed is ready to take challenge at the US$1,000,000 Korea Open.
While talking about the recent performance of Chong Wei, the coach said that the past cannot be changed but the shuttler will be back on winning track in the upcoming events.
He said, "We cannot change the outcome of the last few meetings against Lin Dan and Chen Long but Chong Wei has learnt a lot. It is a new year and Chong Wei wants to continue what he has done in the last four years -- to begin with the title in Korea."
He further added, "Chong Wei may not be as well prepared as he used to be previously at the beginning of a year but we want to be positive and stop thinking too much about Lin Dan and Chen Long for the moment and win the Korea Open.”
In the previous edition of Korea Open, Chong Wei lost to his nemesis, Lin Dan, in the title match.
However, Seu Bock expects good performance from the World Number One this time as a victory at the Korea Open will boost his confidence and will help him in maintaining his top position in the badminton world ranking.
