Tha’Ir to seize the first graded success through the Veuve Clicquot Vintage Stakes
From among the field of ten, the 15 to 2 juvenile for the Group 2 Veuve Clicquot Vintage Stakes, Tha’Ir, gets the nod after winning two out of the three outings. The seven furlong race will reward the winner with the £34,026 prize money. It is scheduled for Wednesday, 1st August at Goodwood.
New Approach’s bay colt failed at clearing the maiden at the first attempt. He ended fourth in the Mark Lister & Friends Supporting Wooden Spoon Maiden Stakes on 20th May, 2012 at Ripon race course over six furlongs.
The good to soft ground conditions went in the favour of the favourite of the race, Hillbilly Boy, who won the race by the margin of two lengths. Finishing the closest to the winner was, Maputo.
The Irish bay colt used all that he had learnt from the first failure to break the maiden and incorporated it in the very next chance that he got.
The Godolphin owned won the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Maiden Stakes on 6th June, 2012 at the Ripon race course over six furlongs. He made all, took left after racing for a furlong and then dominated the final furlong, settling the race by the margin of 4 ½ lengths while riding with jockey, Frederik Tylicki.
Concluding the race right behind was the favourite entry, Bircham.
Clearing the maiden got the Saeed Bin Suroor trained an entry in a listed race. Tha’Ir won the Chesham Stakes (Listed Race) on 23rd June, 2012 at the Royal Ascot over seven furlongs.
He raced on strongly after leaving the seventh stall under the guidance of jockey, Frankie Dettori, but remained towards the rear. Even with two furlongs to go, the two-year-old had pretty much to cover. He made drastic progress when there remained the final furlong and drew clear inside the last furlong, winning by the margin of 2 ¼ lengths.
Qualifying as the runner-up of the race was, Cruck Realta, while filling up the third spot behind him was, Lovely Pass.
The fourth attempt brings him back with jockey, Silvestre De Sousa, and the two will break from the second stall today.
