If this is true, then many such history should be dug up, about other people who talk or boost about their origin.

  1. Well thats true. The correct word is Dhakre from Rajasthan.

  2. Not knowing which country you are in.. I am not sure of who Thackerays are.  If speaking of the US... well, of course, except for Native Americans, all are immigrants. If you are in the UK.. more persons are likely to have ancestry in the same location, which goes back 500 yrs or more.  At the same time, even the UK has history of persons coming from other places, such as those coming with William the Conqueror in 1066.

I do suspect that you don't usually hang out here in the genealogy area (where your comment got posted), but we DO 'dig up history' all the time, and love it.  It is entirely normal for genealogists (professional or hobbyists) to feel a real sense of achievement  to solving puzzles, and finding long lost information that others have no idea exists. I don't necessarily agree that we boast about it.. not in the sense that it makes my ancestor better than your ancestor. But, many have spent YEARS to determine such things as where gr grandpa really is buried, and it is very very exciting to finally succeed at that goal.

So? yeah.. I agree fully.. dig away, it is fun.  Join us..we can help you find your lineage, and you can be proud of you, whatever that happens to be.

    edit-

many questions here are open to a wide audience, so I now see your origin of the question.  I would agree.. the persons seem very hypocritical.

  3. The origin of the last name Thackeray is in England, it is extremely unlikely that it is a variation of another name and it is almost certain that anybody bearing that name had ancestors who originated in England, no matter where they now live.

    Surname: Thackeray

This unusual name is of Old Norse origin and is either a locational or a topographical surname. If the former, it derives from the place called "Thackray" in the Parish of Great Timble, in West Yorkshire which has now been submerged in the Fewston reservoir. The placenames' meaning and derivation are from the Olde Norse elements "thak", meaning thatching, reeds and "(v)ra", meaning a nook or corner. The topographical surname denotes one who lived at such a "nook or corner" - "where reeds for thatching grew". The name development has included John Thackerowe (1548, Yorkshire), James Thackerey (1602, ibid.) and Thomas Thackwray (1613, ibid.). On February 10th 1642, John, son of John and Ann Thackeray was christened at St. Andrews, Holborn, London. The marriage of Robert Thackeray and Margaret Eaton took place on July 22nd 1688 at St. Mary's, St Marylebone Road, London. Probably the most famous bearer of the name was the novelist William Makepeace Thackeray (1811 - 1863), author of "Vanity Fair" (1848). The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of John de Tha Kwra, which was dated 1379, the Yorkshire Poll Tax Returns, during the reign of King Richard 11, Richard of Bordeaux, 1377 - 1399
