  1. Have you seen how much is written about him? I am sure you will find most of your answers here

  2. Try this one:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tadeusz_Ko%...

He went to the Piarist School in Lubieszow and then to Szkola Rycerska that was an equivalent of the American West Point.  He took the striclty military subjects and in addition to them :  philosophy,  world history, Latin, languages, economics, geography, engineering, math (not bad for 18th c.  huh?)

He was what you would call a professional soldier but he was doing also lots of engineering work.  In the States ei:  he was responsible for the construction of Fort Billingsport or the fortification of the banks of the Delaware River.

I am sure that he was Roman Catholic, just like 99% of Poles. I am not sure if he was very devout.

He believed in the idea of freedom for everyone.  After being rewarded with a land in Ohio and a large sum of money after the American Revolution, he spent it on buying freedom for American slaves. His main idea was  fighting for the "Our and your Freedom" (Za nasza i wasza wolnosc).

He fought for the Independence of Poland and organized so called Kosciuszko Uprising (back then Poland was divided among Prussia, Russia and Austria)

PS.  He doesn't do any work now.  He died in 1817.
