For your main dish, my fave is red curry with chicken and veggies.  Very rich and yummy.  Try it even if you think you don't like the flavor of curry.  It tastes nothing like Indian curries.

If you like seafood, most Thai places have a seafood dish with mixed seafood, veggies and spicy sauce.  It's not really wet like a a curry.  It's called "Seafood Madness" at my favorite restaurant, but there is no standard name for it.

I second the Pad thai noodles and chicken satay. It's a classic combination. You could also order some dish with the popular spicy peanut sauces.

you should get sticky rice, Thai tea and sizziling duck (i have been to one and get that all the time and its a great dinner or lunch) and then get coconut ice crean with sticky rice that has coconut milk and rosted seseame seeds

Here are some dishes that most of my "farang" friends love to order when going to a Thai restaurant 1. Pad Thai Koong (Fried Noodles with Shrimp) 2. Pu pad Pong Kari (Fried Crab Meat with Curry Powder) 3. Kai Pad Med Mamuang (Stir Fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts) 4. Tom Kha Kai (Chicken and Coconut Soup)....order Mango with Thai stickrice for dessert. Enjoy!
