When I worked in Vancouver I used to go to the Chinatown area on East Hastings, now they have more I would imagine.

For fresh galagal, lemongrass, straw mushrooms for Tom Yung soup, for the broth try to find a palce that has fresh shrimp with the shells on, the shells when peeled make an excellent soup stock. just be careful with the small bird chilis, they are very hot, one in a pot of soup is enough for most people, fish sauce is available in small botles so you can see if this is something you want or needed.

I also worked in Singapore for the same hotel chain, and have eaten and made this soup many times, if you have trouble, just check the local phone directory or Yellow Pages.
