Thailand Open 2012: Yin Fun Lim overpowers Natnicha Benchapanyanukul to surge into main round
Malaysia’s Yin Fun Lim showed her aggressive performance in the court and secured her place in Women’s Singles main round after beating Thailand’s Natnicha Benchapanyanukul in second qualifying round battle at the SCG Thailand Open 2012 on Tuesday, June
5, in Bangkok.
The Malaysian, who was one set down against her Thai opponent, showed her impressive spirit and took the ending both games to register a sensational win over Natnicha.
Yin Fun started her run in a poor fashion as she could not read the game of her Thai rival. However, she played aggressive badminton and managed to win this thrilling battle in three games.
Natnicha, who was having the moral support of her huge home crowd, failed to live up to expectations as she could not get rid of her Malaysian rival and lost to her in three games with a narrow difference.
In the opening game, both ladies played positive badminton but it was the local lady who remained slightly ahead on the board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Yin Fun tried to level the score but failed to catch up her Thai opponent and lost the first set easily with a huge 13-21 score on the board.
In the second game, it was the Malaysian lady who put up superb show of attacking badminton this time and managed to take a striking lead until the break.
After the interval, the Thai shuttler played better game and she managed to catch up her Malaysian opponent at 12-12.
The score progressed equally from this stage and it was Natnicha who managed to reach at 20-18 but failed to score the ending points as her Malaysian rival came from behind and took the set with a 22-20 score on the board.
In the deciding game, Natnicha again played aggressively and managed a superb lead of 11-5 until the interval.
However, she could not maintain the difference as Yin Fun geared up her speed and levelled the score at 13-13.
The Malaysian remained in full control in the concluding phase of deciding set and eventually won it with a decent score of 21-18.
Yin Fun emerged as the winner in this mouth-watering showdown with a stunning 13-21, 22-20 and 21-18 margin on the board.
