Thailand Open: Chen Yuekun stamped a comprehensive win over Huan Gao in Men’s Singles semi-final
China’s in-form Chen Yuekun continued his roller-coaster run as he reached into Men’s Singles final after defeating his compatriot Huan Gao in semi-final encounter at the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 on Saturday, June 9, in Thailand.
The un-seeded Yuekun showed his elevated craft in the court while playing against his team-mate and emerged as the winner of the semi-final clash with a comprehensive margin on the board.
Yuekun was too strong for his team-mate as he played to his maximum potential and grabbed victory in a phenomenal fashion by ending up the contest in two games while showing his skills for 38 minutes.
In the meanwhile, the young Huan could not maintain his winning performance in the tournament as he could not play dominating badminton in the entire battle and easily lost to his impressive country-mate with a big margin on the board.
In the first game, Yuekun injected impressive power in his shots from the starting points and remained in commanding position.
On the other hand, Huan executed powerful smashes but he could not earn point because of the impressive defence of his team-mate.
Until the break in opening set of this semi-final contest, Yuekun was leading on the score board with a superb 11-6 margin.
After the interval, Huan played slightly better badminton by working well in the rear-court area but failed to stop the aggressive play of his rival.
Yuekun was focused in the court as he played with precision and eventually won the first game with a comprehensive score of 21-14.
In the second set, Yuekun continued his sensational run in the court as he took an early lead without facing any trouble from his rival and again remained successful setting up a remarkable lead of 11-6 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the in-form Yuekun remained consistent in his elevated performance while playing against his compatriot and did not drop his speed at any stage.
Yuekun managed to win second game by putting up thrilling show with an inspiring 21-15 score on the board.
The impressive Yuekun landed a title berth by ousting Huan in semi-final battle with an overall margin of 21-14 and 21-15.
