Thailand Open GP Gold: Lam Narissapat – Saralee Thoungthongkam surge into Women’s Doubles final
Thailand’s talented shuttlers Lam Narissapat and Saralee Thoungthongkam surged into Women’s Doubles final by creating an upset against their higher ranked shuttler Huan Xia and Tang Jinhua in semi-final showdown of Thailand Open GP Gold 2012 on Saturday,
June 9, in Thailand.
The un-seeded Narissapat and Saralee put up thrashing show and entertained their local fans by playing to their maximum potential in the semi-final clash and ousted World Number 11 shuttlers Xia and Jinhua, who were top seeds in Women’s Doubles draw of the
event.
The lower ranked Thai ladies showed their aggression in the court and thrashed the Chinese opponents in straight sets by working extremely well in the court for 47 minutes.
On the other hand, the higher ranked Chinese shuttlers could not continue their impressive run in the tournament as they failed to overpower their local rivals. The Chinese duo lost the contest without taking any set.
In the opening game, both sides played impressive badminton while remaining positive and focused.
The beautiful exchange of prolonged rallies made the crowd exciting as both pairs showed their elite skills until the break when no one could take a reasonable lead.
After the break, Narissapat and Saralee put up thrashing show and took an impressive lead. They remained positive in the concluding half and took the first game with a stunning margin of 21-15.
In the second game, the Chinese shuttlers also played with aggression and did not let the Thai shuttlers to take lead this time.
Both pairs progressed at the same pace and remained close on the score board until the break.
After the interval, the higher ranked Chinese ladies tried to take a comfortable lead but failed to create pressure on their un-seeded local opponents who were impressive in the game.
Narissapat and Saralee were focused in the court and they maintained an immense pressure on their higher ranked Chinese opponents and eventually took the second game with a dramatic 22-20 score on the board.
The lower ranked Narissapat and Saralee showed their class and stormed into the final after ousting their Chinese rival with a margin of 21-15 and 22-20.
