Thailand Women’s teams clinch success at the AVC Continental Beach Volleyball Cup (Part 2)
Following the footsteps of their country mates, Komoltip Kulna and Yupa Phokrongploy of Thailand also brought a good name to the country. They worked out a great performance and received huge applause from the local spectators for their stellar performance.
The pairing of Komoltip Kulna and Yupa Phokrongploy was tagged with Thailand 2. They appeared in four matches and clinched success at every step.
Thailand 2 vs. Vietnam 1 (21-11, 18-21, and 15-4)
In the opening match on Wednesday, 1st December, 2010 Thailand 2 was challenged by Vietnam 1. Nguyen Thi Mai and Truong Thi Yen represented the Vietnam 1 team in the AVC Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament in Thailand. The home side had the competitive
edge of local spectators and familiar court. The match started with an exchange of fast spikes. Nguyen of Vietnam rolled off the ball across the court with strong pushes. Likewise, Komoltip of Thailand poised her feet in the sand and started the strike. The
other partner also complimented her and both put up a combined effort. Vietnam trailed behind and ultimately suffered the loss of first set.
Vietnam made a great comeback in the following set. They strengthened their defence line and resisted to Thailand’s score. Gradually, Vietnam came out of blues and contributed points with solid hits. The second set of the game was a close fight, which ended
in Vietnam’s favour. The visitors made a difference and tied the game with second set victory. However, Thailand re-bounced in the third set and covered the deficit of second set. They attacked with full power and added consecutive points. At the same time,
they restricted Vietnam to score points. Vietnam’s duo failed to stay in front of the strong Thai players and gave way to Thailand’s victory.
Thailand 2 vs. Vietnam 2 (21-17, 21-8)
In the second match on same day, Thailand played the second match against Vietnam 2. Thailand had one victory in hand, while Do Thi Hau/Ngo VO Thanh Loan had already lost one match to Thailand 1. The home side played in their usual style and gradually launched
their power on Vietnam. First set of the match was influenced by Thailand as they hit wonderful shots and picked up a strong lead. Thailand captured the first set by posting 21-17 victory. The guest team really slowed down in the second set. They played defensively
and didn’t try a lot of attacks. On contrary, Thailand’s team was keen to smash the powerful spikes. Thailand pulled off victory in second set as Vietnam could only help 8 points.
Thailand 2 vs. Laos 1 (21-11, 21-13)
Laos’ Chanhaloun Vongsaya and Phimphone Orasa, made an appearance with Thailand’s power strikers in the first match on second day of the tournament. Thailand had so much confidence as they captured the first two matches with good margin of points. Laos 1
was not a potential threat for Thailand’s strong duo. The home team easily managed to build a lead in the first set. They stretched the gap of points and took it to the verge of winning. The first set ended with Thailand’s victory.
The second set also came successful for Thailand. They cruised past Laos’ team with the help of hard-hitting. Laos lost the match, while Thailand got their hands on third straight triumph.
Thailand 2 vs. Laos 2 (21-9, 21-11)
Thailand 1 saw Phonedany Dovangsavanh and Pany Nanhthavong of Laos 2 in the next match. It was an easy task for Thailand’s team to beat the underdogs. The better attacking and defence capability enabled them to win the match. Laos couldn’t resist and accepted
defeat in two straight sets. Thailand 2 remained unbeaten in the tournament and shared the top ranking with Thailand 1.
