Thailand manager Winfried Schafer optimistic ahead of all-important clash against Australia
As http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thailand-c3020 prepare for their most important game of the World Cup qualifying campaign, Thai boss Winfried Schafer is optimistic of his team’s chances ahead of the game.
Schafer was talking ahead of his team’s most important game, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 15. Thailand desperately need to record a win in order to keep their qualification hopes alive. A loss would badly hamper their chances of making it
through to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 in 2014.
The manager told that his team had limited number of opportunities to train, following heavy floods and mass destruction in the country. He still expressed confidence in his side to overcome strong opponents like Australia, despite losing to the Socceroos
during first leg by a slender 2-1 margin.
Winfried reckoned that his team would need an early goal in order to stand any chance of a win. The boss stressed on importance of the win and urged his players to give their hundred percent in spite of being considered underdogs in such a crunch tie.
He also lamented the disappointing loss to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Saudi-Arabia-c3000 on Friday. The manager stated that everyone was expecting them to win against the Saudis but lack of practice deprived them of a win. Saudi Arab won that game by a comprehensive 3-0 margin.
While talking to reporters ahead of Tuesday’s crucial game, the 61-year-old added:
"After the performance in Australia (a narrow 2-1 loss), and the (3-0) win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oman-c2975, everyone here thought we would beat the Saudis twice. But the Saudi League is much better than ours – their players play regularly in the Asian Champions League and they
qualify for the Asian Cup every time."
He concluded by predicting that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Australia-c746 would be given a tough time by his charges, and reminded his players of their performance in Brisbane, where the Socceroos were put under immense pressure before a late winner sunk the War Elephants.
"Australia were surprised by us – sometimes that happens in football when you play against a smaller team, you can be a little bit complacent – I saw that when I watched Australia beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 in Monchengladbach, too. I hope the same thing will happen again
on Tuesday."
