Thailand trip planned for November 09?

I tend to plan ahead so here is my idea. I have scrapped the idea of maldives for now as think the kids would be bored.

I have come up with the idea of doing 3 nights Bangkok

5 nights Phuket and 7 nights Phi Phi. Planning on renewing our vows for our 20th anniversary in either Phuket or Phi Phi.

What I want to know is what you think of the plan as well as will the weather generally be considered good for November?

  1. Sounds ok to me. As far as the weather, it shouldn't be a problem. Rainy season is done by that time.

I usually go there in October, which is the tail end of the rainy season, and the weather is fine even then.

Note: A lot of hotels start charging high season rates at the beginning of November, some wait until the 15th. Whatever the case may be, you should know there is a HUGE difference between high and low season prices. Might be something to consider if you want to save some money...

  2. I spent three months in Thailand...but it was ten years ago and I would agree that Chiang Mai is much much nicer than Bangkok! Don't get me wrong the floating market and the palace in Bangkok where fantastic...but it is still a very, very busy city. Chiang Mai is still a city but doesn't feel like a city it is much more chilled out and right by the jungle I bet the kids would love to do a jungle trek...we did three days! One day spent on the elephants (which we got to wash in the river) then a day trekking and a day on river rafts! I can't remember how much it cost...but not much as we where on a back packers budget!

Ko Phi Phi was the sweetest little island ever but with the Tsunami I'm not sure what it is like now...but Krabi was breathtaking and we travelled from Krabi to Koh Phi Phi.

We where there from Sept till Dec and it was wet quite a bit of the time...which meant we where stuck in our beach hut or in a beach bar! LOL I'm not complaining about that but the kids might!

Anyway what ever you do decide you would be hard pressed to find nicer more welcoming people than the thais and hope you enjoy your trip!

  3. Looking for romantic nice place Maybe Krabi is better. Anyway Phuket and Krabi share same island hopping. 7 nights in PP island maybe a bit too much now. PP was nice but after Tsunami they turn to be too commercial island and under construction is many spot.

Try Ko Lanta or Railey-Tonsai It's a good place and you can take boat from Ao nang for 60 baht each around 1.50 euro each. And if you get bored of the island you can take long tail boat back in ao nang town anytime it's close to it. From railey you can hop to many island including PP island for a trip and snorkling too.

romance can be found for sure :) People are kool too they have many kind of accommodation..good ones and cheap ones.

3 nights in Bangkok you can do when you come back from island there isn't much in bangkok but many lifestyle to see tho.

November hte wheather is perfect for beaches and every places.

    Have fun!

or check www.travellertrips.webs.com check island paradise.

  4. Mmmm.

I would do 7 nights Phuket (Katatani Beach Resort Hotel) and 5 nights Phi Phi (Phi Phi Island Village).

Don't think much of Bangkok - would recommend Chiang Mai instead for your 3 nights (Tamarind Hotel).

You can fly direct from Chiang Mai to Phuket.

The weather in Nov? Monsoon season but still hot!

Of course renew your vows on Phi Phi.

    Have a nice time.

I prefer to go to Thailand Feb/March.

  5. November is the start of the high season on the west coast of Thailand, with the east coast starting their monsoon season.

There is occasionally the odd bit of rain but mostly dry and around 30-35 Celsius.

Have you considered Koh Lanta as a destination, just south of Phi Phi?

It has a very relaxed atmosphere, far less over-developed than Phuket and Phi Phi and popular with families and kids. Lanta Weddings also offer vow renewal packages.
