Thammasin Sitthikom casts Joshi Aditya out of Asia Youth Championships – Badminton news
Thailand’s young but talented shuttler Thammasin Sitthikom had a perfect start in 100 Plus Badminton Asia Youth U-19 as he registered his first victory in a Group C match on July 8, 2013.
He locked horns with an Indian campaigner Joshi Aditya and their encounter remained in full swing for 32 minutes. The Thai shuttler displayed better finishing skills on court and wrapped this showdown with an impressive result of 21-13 and 21-17.
Thammasin laid the foundation of his splendid victory straight away in the beginning and served notice of his dominance by winning the second set on merit. On the other hand, the Indian player could not employ an effective strategy and lost this group match
in disgraceful manner.
The opening game of match saw Thammasin launching an intensive attack and establishing a decent lead in the beginning. He did not break this flow and doubled his total in next couple of rallies.
Before the announcement of break, Thammasin managed to pile up a mountainous figure of 11. He relished full benefits of this advantage in latter part of the game.
Though, Joshi also showed some spark in third quarter of the set and tried to bring the contest to right balance but his fluctuated performance was not enough to change the scenario.
Meanwhile, Thammasin struck hard when it mattered and swept the table with an overwhelming score of 21-13. With this win, he marched into second game with a psychological edge.
The following game started with couple of gruelling rallies as both contenders made every effort to establish an upper hand in the beginning. They pushed each other in all areas of the court but neither of them could enjoy a permanent lead.
However, things got changed when Thammasin bagged few valuable points in a row and finished first half of the set with a respectable figure. After the one-minute break, the Thai shuttler injected more intensity in his attack and confined his challenger in
the rear court.
He did not lose focus at any stage of the game and sealed his straight-set victory with four-point lead in 21-17 margin.
