Thangthong Kiattaweesuk scheduled to take on Macbute Sinyabi in a title eliminator – Boxing News
Thangthong Kiattaweesuk, the former WBC International bantamweight champion, has been scheduled to take on Macbute Sinyabi, the current South African super bantamweight champion, in a 12-round bout. The bout will decide as to who will be the number one contender
for Jeffrey Mathebula’s IBF super bantamweight title.
The announcement was made by Jimmy Chaichotchuang, one of the leading and renowned promoters in the IBF Asia Pacific region. According to the news, the bout will take place on May 18, 2012 and will basically be a title-eliminator bout.
The rest of the pay-per-view will be decided in the upcoming days and more bouts will be added with the passage of time. The ring for the event will be stretched at Bangkok, Thailand and the above duo will headline the Friday night showdown.
Kiattaweesuk, 33, has been in a total 23 bouts and boasts an undefeated win streak. He has never lost even a single bout and has nailed 16 of his total opponents by knockout. Widely known in his hometown as the ‘Machine Gun’ or ‘Thangthong Big Cola’, Thangthong
possesses a unique record of holding and defending the IBF Pan Pacific bantamweight title for 11 times.
In addition, he recently collected wins over Nick Otieno to grab the WBC International bantamweight title and Richard Samosir to engrave his name on the IBF Pan Pacific super bantamweight title for the very first time.
A glance at the Thai proud clearly shows that he is a lethal opponent who possesses a powerful jab and can nail even the best in the division. His Friday night opponent, Macbute, is also a top-notch pugilist who has been in a total 19 bouts and has lost
just once.
He has collected all of his 18 wins by knocking the opponent out cold and is well known for being a tough pound-for-pound brawler. Sinyabi, also known as the ‘Macman’, grabbed his country’s apex super bantamweight title against Tshepo Mofokeng and since
then has successfully defended it against seven opponents.
After making the announcement of the event, the IBF Asia Pacific promoter of the year, Jimmy thanked both parties and shared his ambition of conducting more Thai versus South Africa bouts.
Jimmy remarked, “I am proud to support the IBF/USBA and it’s my honor to welcome South Africa boxing teams to Thailand. I would like to thank Branco Milenkovic, promoter Sinyabi, for his cooperation to make the fight happen in Thailand and I hope to do more
fights between Thailand vs South Africa.”
Jimmy also praised the two pugilists and stated, “Both Kiattaweesuk and Sinyabi are talented boxers and represent their countries. I am sure they will give a world class performance with the winner challenging IBF junior featherweight champion Jeffrey Mathebula.”
The bout will be a tooth-and-nail one since both men are considered as ace pugilists and have a flawless resume. The odds are 50-50 on both sides and only the initial rounds of the bout will tell as to who will win the showdown.
