Question:

Thank you notes, when are they appropriate?

I'm big into giving thank you notes, such as when I went down on a vacation with my cousins, but due to certain circumstances only went for a fraction of the trip. They just received my note for that not long ago, and I just saw them and I received $100 for graduation. I think I should send a note, but it seems weird to send two separate notes so closely together. Am I just being paranoid or is it weird?

  1. Not weird at all. Yes, you should send another thank you note.

  2. $100 is definitely a good reason to send a thank you note! You sound like a very courteous person though

  3. NO. Do send them another thank you note.

  4. You are not paranoid send a note even if it is close together; graduation is just one of those things where it is best to follow strict etiquette.

  5. Look at it this way: has anyone EVER reacted badly to being thanked?  I don't think you can ever go wrong with a thank you note.

  6. Consider the alternative. They may feel, A gift unacknowledged may have been unappreciated.  The first thank you does not cover both occasions.

  7. So what if you send more than one thankyou note in a short period of time? Who's going to care? Go ahead and send a thankyou note if you feel the need. If you still feel uncomfortable sending it, give them a phone call and give a personal thankyou over the phone. I'm sure they would appreciate that just as much. Either or, it's not wierd, it's just you being nice and polite ! :D

  8. Any time you are given something you should send a thank you note.  They didn't have to give you anything but did just out of generosity and to show how proud they are of you.  You don't have to write a long letter, just a note saying thanks for being so good to me, you've always been so generous with your time on the trip already.  You appreciate the gift.

  9. A thank you note is appropriate for every single occasion that you have been given something no matter how close the situations are.  Each situation is different and therefore requires a thank you.  It's as simple as that.

  10. You are just being paranoid. Nobody is ever going to get all ticked off for getting two thank you notes for two separate things. If you think you should send a note, there is your answer. You are a very thoughtful person, and that can be rare nowadays, but that doesn't make it wrong.
