Thanks! Where are the built-in car seat hookups in the 2001 VW passat?

My sister-in-law is expecting a baby and is trying to install her car seat and could not find any. HELP!

  1. You can either call the dealer of just call the manufacturer and ask them if the car has them......


  2. It may not have any.  2002 was when the LATCH anchors were mandated to be installed in all vehicles.  You can install with the seatbelt.  LATCH isn't inherently safer, it's just supposed to be easier.

  3. It doesn't have any. There weren't made standard untill 2002, which would be 2003 model years and after, though a few had them before that. She will need to install using the seatbelt.

    Seatbelts are just as safe as LATCH, LATCH was invented to be universal and convenient, though it has failed on both counts b/c of variance between car manufacturers.
