  1. When setting up a wireless network you have the option now and later to change or add a password. Be it WEP or WPA. Just go into control panel and go from there.

  2. To do that, you have to log in to the wireless router from any computer that is plugged in to it. It should be located under "Security" or some similar label. You will have several options for encryption level (length of password) to let you know you have the correct area located.

Enter your password here. Then, once your laptop connects with the router it should ask you for the password, which it saves for future reference.

  3. You need to know your routers ip address and type this in the address bar. Normally this is  192.168.1.1 but it may very on  your router. The you must follow the buttons. You should the set the wep or WPA in there

  4. ???

  5. Set what?

  6. Go to the router administration page.  Here's how:

Go to Start > Run > "cmd" (without the quotes)

    Type "ipconfig /all"

You'll see a  value for the Default Gateway.  Open up your web browser and type in http://<Default Gateway>.  Normally this is 192.168.1.1 or something like that.  You'll be prompted for a username and password, which is usually something simple like admin///admin or admin///password.  If you're not sure, look online.

There will be a tab or section for wireless.  Under this section, you'll see probably a drop down menu with WEP, WPA, and some other encryptions.  Use WPA or WEP.  Type in a secure password and click apply.  Now when you connect to your wireless access point, you'll be prompted for a password to connect unless you choose to save it.
