Does anyone else here ever get the urge to pull out your freakin' hair when someone says "could of" instead of 'could have'?

Zilla feels kinda frustrated, but wishes you all a good morning :)

  3. You could, of course, instead of pulling out your freakin' hair, have  torn your sac, which would of been, sort've kind've painfuller. Top've the mornin' to you, mate.

  4. Thank you for not being the only one driven up the wall by this >.> I don't even understand how people started spelling it "could of". What the h**l? It's a freaking contraction, people. Could HAVE. Could'VE. Sheesh.

  5. "could care less" is my 'favourite'.

  6. YES ARGH I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!

  7. Shoulda, coulda, woulda... if I'd of only known!  But I ain't all that smart, ya know. lol

I still have a couple strands of hair left to play with, though.  rofl!  Good morning =)

  8. Silly people should correct theirselves after saying "could of" instead of "could have".  Hun, I am from the south where poor grammar is very common.  Nah, doesn't really make me want ot pull out my hair.  I know this grammar has been passed down for generations.  It's known here as "Appalachian English". Expressions such as, I done done it.. "you was" and "y'all were," "Is you going to eat that tater?"  Fetch me that there rake yonder".  I believe you would be very surprised by the highly educated, wealthy folks who use this language.

Nice to see ya.  You come on back now....Hear??

Prayers and good wishes for the people in the path of hurricane Gustav.  It is now a category 4.  I see many people seem to be heading north.  We don't want to see a repeat of Katrina!!!!

  9. English is dead, long live Ebonics !

    (((zilla)))

  10. LOL, even I do, and you know that English is not my first language...

  11. I wish I could of but behemoths don't have hair!

  12. I used to get wound up about it but I've seen it so many times that my former rage has given way to resignation... sigh...

Good morning to you too, Zilla (actually it's afternoon where I am :->)

  13. Did you know I'm bald???  (((((Zilla)))))

  14. I find "could have cared less" much more aggravating....

  15. Language is evolving.

We'll all be typing with variations of chat speak in less than a hundred years time.

  16. lol yeh its annoying rite

    Could've ftw.

  17. Zilla, lizards don't have hair.  How could you be pulling out your hair?  ;-)

Yeah, it does annoy me, amongst other such grammatical errors.  How hard would it be for those people to type "could've" instead?  It's a proper contraction.  "Could of" is not.

And a good afternoon to you!

  18. Language is de-volving. Dyslexics untie!! My fellow failures in English class visit our poor English skill & ADD and even our ignorance here at a regular rate.

    Sorry. I am guilty!

  19. Huh?

    PS: it's 7 pm here

  20. As an English teacher things like that make me want to email the person and give him or her a grammar lesson.  I also hate it when someone says loose but means lose.   (((((Zilla)))))
