How did he get caught?

The oldest child became very ill and her mother got him to take her to the doctor. He pretended that she was left on the doorstep ill by her mother. The hospital requested for the mother to come forward to tell her medical history so they could help the ill girl. They had a TV in the dungeon and heard the news and pleaded with the father to take them to help.

Doctors, unable to find any medical records for the girl, appealed on television for her mother to come forward. Fritzl then accompanied Elisabeth to the hospital on April 26 and opened up to police.

the hospital staff were first suspicious because of the strange colour of elizabeth and kirsten's faces. then they found the note from elizabeth in kirsten's pocket which didnt tell the facts but it was odd to them.

One of them got really sick and taken to the hospital, when asked for the family history, he told them the mother disappeared. There was an investigation after that and he was caught.
