I think that it is very rude how people think children cannot be mature. I saw someone post on a question,'Children(all years) cannot handel anything adult rated.' EXCUSE ME. I am a child[on my moms account right now], and I am a tween. I can handel adult rated things. I know alot of things adult rated. R Rated.

Whats your opinion?

  1. true... or if you ask a Q adult there like wait till your 16 or your mayed ... I'm asking this stuff to keep me safe i know it know some guy that trys it latter i can stop it gosh i hate how they ''think'' we know nothing at all

  2. Welcome to your teenage years, kid.   Get use to it.

  3. well its true! how many tween out there DONT know all about "r-rated"stuff

i think that you KIND OF have a point..you shouldnt be shielded from whats out there in the world, but at the same time there isa limit to how much a tween (11-12 yr olds?) should be able to see (which is exactly why ratings such as on movies were created) and how much they stuff they should have access to (ex. alcohol, tobacco)

i think children can be mature, i was a mature kid myself, for the most part at least! its just a stereotypical thing....for example teens are seen as lazy, "bad" and rude etc.

the thing i dont like is how you say "i can handle adult rated things" i dont think that someone your age should 1. be having s*x and geeting pregannt 2. going to bars/clubs 3.drinking 4. doing drugs (although no one at any age should be doing that) 5. buying a car and driving it 6.owning a gun 7. having a job and making money  (not counting something like a paper route or whatever) and of course this list goes on and on...

so basically..yes, you and everyone else your age  "knows" lots of adult rated things, and i understand your frustration of people stereotyping you based on age...but then you are not NEARLY old enough to "handle" adult rated things

  4. People spend WAAAY too much time coddling and making excuses for their overrated and overvalued children.  Children are like any other group of people...a few winners and a whole bunch of LOSERS.

Way too many LOSER children out there.

  5. I let my younger sister whose about 9 years old watch Rated R movies, and I am okay with the violence and bad words as long she wont use it, the only thing that concerns about me is the sexual content.

  6. it depends on your maturity level and what your parents have/have not taught you over the years. i agree though, some kids are more mature than others. but maturity is not necessarily just age, but also in how a person deals with lifes issues. so in that aspect, sometimes maturity is based on life experience. the longer you've lived, usually the more life experience you have.

  7. that you were probably the kid who got mad?

  8. The simple fact is that at your age you really shouldn't know those adult rated "things".  Shame on your mother for wanting to be your friend more than your mother.

  9. Yea, it is pretty unfair and stereotypical.  Not every child is the same, some are more mature than others.  It all depends on each child.

  10. It's all about protecting.  You want to protect your kids and keep them from getting harmed.   We aren't saying that kids are dumb, they just don't have the experience yet (neither do some adults).

For instance, you are using your moms account to do something you aren't supposed to.  If you were able to, then you would have your own account.

You have to build trust and show maturity.  Then you will be treated as an adult.  But enjoy being young while you can.  Responsibility is never all that fun.

  11. Im With You Brother! I Hate It When They Say Stuff Like That...

  12. OMG i feel the same way! its like kids dont have a voice or sumthing! we know things parents and older people just cuz were kids dosent meen that were stupid or anything, may meen were inexperinced but not dumb! We need a voice and u no that we dont have one! give us a chance!!!

  13. i think it's all relative.

  14. The reason tweens can handle it is because they are way too exposed to it. The sensory in this country is horrible.

I understand what you are getting at, though. "Children" should not be counted as a whole. It is the parents' desicions. If a parent thinks their child is mature enough, then it is up to them to decide whether he or she can handle adult-rated things.

  15. Statistics are that one in five children are stalked on the internet. I am a mother and I want to protect children. You may be an "old soul" but I still don't want to see you hurt.

  16. i agree
